Professional Stuff

My current activities at Virginia include:

a complete revision of the undergraduate CS curriculum.
research in Computer Architecture
research into Computer Securiity in distributed systems (Legion).
trying to help humanities scholars exploit information technology.

In addition, outside the University, I

Chair the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of
the National Research Council
serve on the Council of the ACM
am a Reviewing Editor of Science.

Personal Stuff

My wife, Anita Jones, is also a professor of Computer Science here at UVa. However, she is currently on leave to serve as Director of Defense Research and Engineering in the Defense Department.

We live about eight miles outside of Charlottesville (check out the link for general information, including the current weather).
