Problems to be submitted

- It is important that you always read an entire assignment before starting your problem solving. It is definitely true for this assignment and will be true for future assignments.
- Following directions is a real world problem solving skill. For this course, points will be given for solving the assigned problem.
- Both exercises for this assignment have you complete a program that prints some information. Absolutely nothing else should be printed other than what is requested (this restriction includes preceding or trailing blanks).
- A partially completed program file is available for each exercise. Download the files and use them as starting points.
- It is important that you fill in the header information.
- If you submit a program more than once, the latest submission will overwrite the previous submission.
Program directions.py
- Print one line of output. The output should be the word directions and nothing else whatsoever.
Program utc_offset.py
- The current international time standard is now Coordinated Universal Time or UTC. It is the successor to Greenwich Meridian Time.
- Times around the world can be specified given by the UTC offset from Coordinated Universal Time; for example,
UTC-04:00
: corresponds to US and Canadian Atlantic Standard Time,
UTC-05:00
: corresponds to US Eastern Standard Time,
UTC-06:00
: corresponds to US Central Standard Time,
UTC-07:00
: corresponds to US Mountain Standard Time,
UTC-08:00
: corresponds to US Western Standard Time,
UTC+08:00
: includes cities such as Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Perth,
UTC+09:00
: includes cities such as Seoul and Tokyo,
UTC+10:00
: includes cities such as Port Moresby, Sydney and Vladivostok.
- If your UTC offset is not listed, let me know and I will add it.
- Your program should print the UTC offset in standard format for your place of living this semester.
- The only output is to be a single string on a single line. The string should have no spaces.
- All letters in the output should be in uppercase.
- If I were doing this program, my program would produce as output
UTC-05:00
BTW (by the way)
- For program
directions.py
when printing the indicated word, all letters should be in lowercase except for the last letter which should be uppercase.
