Compute Resources

The department maintains a number of common pooled and shared hardware resources which are "free" and "unlimited" for CS Department users: faculty, research professionals, graduate students, undergraduate researchers and non-UVa offsite collaborators.

Software Environment

We strive to maintain a 'transparent' computing environment across all nodes so that users may move from resource to resource easily; this provides redundancy, scale, graceful degradation and ease of disaster recovery. For users, this makes using extra resources fairly easy.

Desktops

We provide desktop computers for graduate students, staff and undergraduates who have been assigned seats in labs in Rice Hall. These are a mixture of machines, but all are at least
