Contents
Overview
The CS department has a common need for research posters and other large format media to be printed in-house; to this effect, we own and operate two high quality large format inkjet plotters for departmental use. These plotters are also commonly referred to as poster printers for our most common use.
Administrative Logistics
These poster printers are to be used for Computer Science departmental business only!
- It is not to be used for printing your favorite Pink Floyd poster or photos of your dog.
Printing requires administrative access.
- To request permission to print to the poster printers, please send email to root@cs.virginia.edu.
Poster Printers
HP DesignJet 2500cp
This general purpose poster printer is named cs-poster and is physically located in the department print room, Olsson 234.
Specifications
HP Designjet Z3100ps GP
This high quality final print poster printer is named cs-plotter-2 and is physically located in the Systems Staff office work area, Olsson 113. Due to its location, this poster printer is only available during staffed hours, which is usually Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Available Media
There are many different paper sizes to choose from when printing your poster.
We currently have three types of paper available
1. Coated paper
2. Semi-gloss paper
3. High-gloss photo paper (default)
Please do not attempt to change paper yourself. Ask an administrator (i.e. send mail to root@cs.virginia.edu) to change paper for you.
HP has a nice help page to assist you in deciding which type of media will best suit your purpose. Remember that this is a DesignJet 2500CP, you will need that information to help you decide.
