Using your mail client for UVA Student IMAP Gmail.

  • Enable IMAP on your Gmail account
  1. Sign into Gmail
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab
  4. Select Enable IMAP
  5. Save Changes

  • Use the following settings in your mail client
The UVA Computer Science System Administration does not support UVA Gmail but the following table contains the necessary settings to set up your email client. UVA Gmail is supported by UVA ITC and ITC’s support documents can be found at UVA Gmail
IMAP Incoming server imap.gmail.com or imap.googlemail.com SSL=yes Port:993
Outgoing server smtp.gmail.com or smtp.googlemail.com SSL=yes Port: 465 or 587
Username your UVA computing ID@virginia.edu (e.g.: dlg5u@viriginia.edu)
Email Address UVA computing ID@virginia.edu (e.g.: dlg5u@viriginia.edu)

Using your mail client for UVA Microsoft Live. (POP is not recommended)

The UVA Computer Science System Administration does not support UVA Microsoft Live but the following table contains the necessary settings to set up your email client. UVA Microsoft Live is supported by UVA ITC and ITC’s support documents can be found at UVA Microsoft Live
POP Incoming server pop3.live.com SSL=yes Port:995
Outgoing server smtp.live.com SSL=yes Port: 25
Username your UVA computing ID@virginia.edu (e.g.: dlg5u@viriginia.edu)
Email Address UVA computing ID@virginia.edu (e.g.: dlg5u@viriginia.edu)

Using your mail client for UVA CMS.

The UVA Computer Science System Administration does not support UVA CMS but the following table contains the necessary settings to set up your email client. UVA CMS is supported by UVA ITC and ITC’s support documents can be found at UVA CMS (choose your mail client from the left vertical menu)
IMAP Incoming server cms.mail.virginia.edu SSL=yes Port:993
Outgoing server cms.mail.virginia.edu SSL=yes Port: 465
Username your UVA computing ID@virginia.edu (e.g.: dlg5u@viriginia.edu)

LDAP Configuration (for Directory Services) LDAP server ldap.virginia.edu Search base o=University of Virginia,c=US
