Friday Poem

A “‍devil strategy guide‍” encouraging the use of plot to keep people enslaved.

This poem grew from my observation of movies have people struggling against a real malaise only to reach a “‍good‍” ending “‍Popular‍” movies have happy endings. “‍Artistic‍” movies have hopeful endings. Same idea. that is just another face of the same bad situation.

Untitled Poem

If you should wish to trap a mortal
Be sure to leave an “‍exit‍” portal
That leads into a cell with painted sky.
Mark well that exit, post a guard,
And make them think escape is hard
To bring them satisfaction when they try.

If he’s reduced his wife to “‍it‍”
Then found the spot no longer hit
Be sure to find a hussy for his lust.
If she’s engrossed in TV soaps
Then give her books to fan her hopes
But make them books that turn the mind to dust.

There really isn’t magic here:
Entice the eye and charm the ear
And add an outlet for their urge to grow.
For if you give your cells a plot
Inmate retention grows a lot
And prisoners inside need never know.
