Friday Poem

The perils of eating marshmallow fluff.

Untitled Poem

Most versions of the tale have said that Icarus was giddy
And flew up to the sun like some insensible old biddy.
It wasn’t really so, you know; the sun’s a long, long way
And Icarus’s fateful flight was made in just one day.
He flew up to the clouds above and found the fluffy things
Were made of marshmallows, so sweet a scent it made him sing.
He lighted on a cloud and tried a mouthful of the stuff
And soon with reckless eagerness was wolfing down the fluff.
But as he ate the sticky sweets had gummed his wings up tight
And when he left the cloud at last they’d lost the power of flight.
