Gabe's Hobbies

    Gabe's hobbies: Skating

  1. I have trained in long-distance / endurance skating, as well as stunt-skating. Here I am at Venice Beach, California.

  2. Gabe's hobbies: Archery

  3. Another one of my hobbies is archery (I never hunt - archery is strictly a skill-only hobby for me). The bow I use is a Hoyt Alphatec, an olympic-class compound bow with a 70-pound draw pull, and a fiber-optic sight with a spotting scope.

  4. Taking aim.

  5. This is the view looking downrange when I practice my archery; the closest of the three targets is 75 feet away, and the farthest is 150 feet away.

  6. This is a typical grouping I achieve from a distance of 75 feet during casual practice: almost all shots fall within a 6-inch circle.

  7. This is a typical grouping I get at a range of 150 feet: almost all shots fall within a 12-inch circle - there is definitely room for improvement here.

  8. This is my Hoyt Alphatec bow. The black vertical tube is a stabilizer (shown unmounted); the arrows have extra-thin carbon-fiber shafts, 2-inch fletchings, and field points.

  9. My bow in closeup: note the oversized cams, which provide an 85% let-off on the draw pull when the bow is drawn - this feature greatly improves the aim.

  10. This is the official spec sheet on my Hoyt Alphatec bow.

  11. Gabe's hobbies: SCUBA

  12. Another of my hobbies is SCUBA diving; here I am at a depth of 50 feet off San Salvador Island in the Bahamas.

  13. This is the dive boat we used off San Salvador Island in the Bahamas - a great place to become certified divers!

  14. View from the beach of San Salvador Island; this island is the first landfall made by Christopher Columbus during his voyage to the New World five centuries ago.

  15. My "Open Water Diver" SCUBA certification, by PADI, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
