ILOM Network
We plan on creating a private network segment for ethernet based Lights Out Management ports for our servers. This will be a 10.x.x.x/8 network that follows a specific convention to map IP addresses to physical rack U locations. The second octet of the IP address maps to the row, the third maps to the rack and the fourth maps to the U number in the rack. So a server in row 2, rack 4 and U 24 would have the IP address 10.2.4.24.
When configuring IP settings use the Gateway 10.1.2.1 and Subnet Mask 255.0.0.0
Preliminary Setup
There is a VM running on sandbox01
that is connected to the ILOM network. This host acts as a gateway into the network, the fqdn is lightsout.cs.virginia.edu
.
From lightsout
you can directly ssh to any of the ZFS servers. Here is a look at the /etc/hosts file on lightsout:

You can log in to these ILOM connections using the credentials root : gettys
Once connected to the ILOM you can either control the OS Console, or enter commands via the ILOM Console. See the article on SPARC ILOM for more information.
