Friday Poem

Gratitude can be awkward…

Untitled Poem

“‍Thank you that the car is dirty‍” said the boy unto his mom,
“‍Thank you that the keyboard’s qwerty and that England has The Bomb‍”
Gratitude like this was shocking, for the boy was often crass
So the mother told him “‍thank you‍” e’er this nicer mood should pass.
“‍Thank you, son, for being grateful; I am glad for keyboards too.‍”
Of the other things he thanked her, she did not know what to do.
When a child is glad for warheads and for mud-spots on the van
How should mother keep him grateful and express she’s not a fan?
