Friday Poem

We all know myths are false; we couldn’t stand not knowing that.

Untitled Poem

“‍The game,‍” he said, “‍has simple rules;
this piece is fast, this one wins duels;
the land’s a grid, all moves are straight,
The goal’s to be the first to eight.‍”

I looked at him, this Odin-Zeus,
  I looked long at the “‍board‍”;
I looked at people moving there,
  heard prays to this strange lord.
“‍It’s not a game,‍” I said at last,
  “‍Those ‘‍pieces‍’ are alive!‍”
Said he, “‍Oh look, this one’s so fast
  ’Twill very soon arrive!‍”

I woke in sweat, to knees did fall
And prayed that god’s not god of all
