Friday Poem

Candles, coal, and dictionaries.

I noticed, when about to post for today, that I neglected to post a poem last week. I toyed with pretending I had posted (I always stretch the truth in the post times in my Atom feed anyway…) but decided to simply include both in one post instead.

Untitled Poem

Candles burn, though not too bright,
In mines of coal black as the night.
A larger flame would shed more light
But flame plus coal-dust equals fright.

Untitled Poem

The Dictionary, book of words
’S peculiar in what it lets in.
It has both “‍erudite‍” and “‍turds‍”,
  But “‍thier,‍” a word I often see
With meaning clear for all to see,
A word that children use, you see
Escapes the Dictionary’s ken.
