Friday Poem

Work to be done is work to be doing.

To be sung to the tune of the Policeman’s Song from The Pirates of Penzance, albeit with the echoes having their own words. The grammar of the last two lines may be confusing, but it made me smile more than my clearer revisions so I left it in.

Untitled Poem

When there’s tedious and time consuming work to be done And there’s no one there to work on it but you It’s excusable to have an urge to shirk, have some fun, Even though you know it’s not what you should do. But if you will buckle down and do your duty with a will You will find the time will pass right rapidly And the doldrums that, all dogged, hot, and fruity, make you ill When you’re shirking when your working ever flee.
