If you are fixing a rejected submission, please submit your corrected files to the new queue!

1 File Setup

The first step in successfully creating a sliced file is to set the printer to the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 0.4 Nozzle. You will not be able to successfully print if your printer type is set to anything but this.

You MUST set your printer to Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 0.4mm Nozzle!

Another essential step is to make sure you're using the cool plate. If you use some kind of specialty filament, you will want to reach out to our 3D printing TA(s). They'll advise you on how to change these settings. Unless you're doing that, always stick to the cool plate.

The last absolutely mission-critical step is to set the filament type to either Bambu or Generic PLA. We use either interchangably, but I usually use the generic preset to stay on the safe side.

You MUST set your filament to Generic PLA.

If you submit a file to the queue that has either of these settings incorrectly set, no matter what other preparation you've done, we won't be able to print your file.

2 Slicing Files

You are expected to submit your file as a sliced .3mf file. This is exactly what you would print if you were to use the printer on your own.

Thus, what we will NOT accept and print are

  • Raw, unsliced .stl or .3mf files (i.e. files that have never been through Bambu Studio)
  • Raw design files (e.g. .f3d, .ipt, .sld, etc.)

You should follow these steps to slice your part:

Slice button Drop down menu for save options Export Plate Sliced File File Dialog box

You MUST follow these steps to produce a sliced .3mf file that you will submit to the queue.

You should also include your computing ID and instructor name in your filename, as well as a descriptive name for your part.

3 Reaching Out

If at any point you need help with your file or design, please don't hestitate to reach out to your 3D printing TAs!
