Class 01 — Wednesday. January 19
Though our ducks don't quack — They are your mighty totems — Of understanding [1] [2]
First things first: Getting to know you (worksheet)
- The worksheet that you received when you came in is purely for me to learn names.
- In my courses, I round up your final grade as much as 0.5% if I know your name at the end of the semester (for example, 89.53% would be rounded up to A-).
Very important
- Today and every class, start off by looking over the entire class home page! This gives you a good idea of the agenda for the day (though we may not always get to the last items listed!)
- Know that all classes will be recorded and made available to class members. No one else is allowed to record class meetings unless there is a specific SDAC accommodation.
- If you ever forget how to get to the course page: Go to our collab site. On the left menu, select "Course Website". Alternatively, you can just google "cs1112 uva" or enter this web address: http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~cs1112/.
Look both ways
- The back link will show the tasks you were to be concerned with prior to our first class. In the future, it will be a link related to the previous class meeting.
- The ahead link is the likely materials for the next class meeting
Hoo we are
- Our University is now structured on the richness of our differences and recognizes that everyone is created equal and entitled to equal rights, dignity, and respect. We must repudiate all that violate these principles through hate and violence.
- Course personnel are deeply committed to our university principles, and seek to make our class welcoming and safe to all.
- It is an exciting time to be in computing. Class personnel look forward to introducing you to it so that you can help make the world a better place.
