(no submission)Purpose:
- Make (more) friends and think about your course project team members
- Be familiar with our course
- Verify that you have access to the course's Piazza
You will have 10 minutes to complete this activity. To facilitate your conversation, you may want to delegate a timekeeper to ensure you get to all of the tasks.
Tasks:
- Team with 1 or 2 of your neighbors – try to make new friend(s)
- Get to know your team. Using the two-breath rule, introduce yourself, share your name, major(s), the year you are in.
- Refer to the course website,
download and complete
a crossword
(and have fun!)
- Be prepared to share your solution to the class
- Be prepared to ask (class-related) questions
- Login to Piazza
and post a short introduction as a follow-up discussion in the "A bit about myself" note.
- Tell us your name, your major, the year you are in, where you are from/now, your career goals, why you are taking this class, and what you expect to learn
- Tell us one interesting thing about yourself (that's probably not in your CV and you would like to share)
- [optional but highly encouraged] Include a picture of yourself, and embed it inline (this will help us learn your name)
- Although a picture is optional, you are encouraged to include your picture. This helps everyone (your peers and course staff) recognize you. We frequently learn / map your name and face from this activity -- for some of you, the pictures in Canvas and SIS are quite different from your current appearance; some of the names you post here are different from the ones in Canvas and SIS. Additionally, we hope to help you build a community of practice -- not only inside of class but also out of class / after the semester / after college. Please consider including your picture(s).
