SAN Storage

The ZFS servers are connected to a SAN fabric. A set of disk arrays is also connected to the SAN fabric. Most of our volumes are stored on Nexsan disk arrays or a Hitachi G200 disk array.

The SAN fabric is composed of one Brocade fibrechannel switch (san_sw_03). There is no zoning on the switch. All ports can communicate with any other port.

Each host server that connects to the SAN does so through a Host Bus Adapter (HBA), which connects via fiber to a SAN switch port. Disks are discovered and utilized by the servers through the SAN fabric.
