Some printers have settings that no longer apply, such as lost administrative passwords or IP range bans. The “reset printer to factory settings” function will not remove these in some cases. In order to completely factory restore a printer you must do a “Cold Boot”

The following should apply to most HP printers. It will be updated when necessary.

1. Turn the printer off.
2. Power the printer on and wait for the memory count to appear on the LCD.
3. When the memory count appears press and hold the OK button.
4. Hold until the printer displays “Select Language”
5. Press up or down to select “Cold Reset” and press OK.
6. Allow the printer to boot normally. It should now be fully reset.
