Disk Space
The CS Dept. provides centralized disk space for its users via several very high performance file servers (running Linux ZFS) and virtualized disk arrays. Several hundred TB of space is available.
Filesystems are exported by the file servers and auto mounted to all CS servers via NFS. There are home directory filesystems and project directory filesystems.
There is also a /bigtemp filesystem providing temporary volatile storage, as well a /localtmp local storage on servers.
The home directory (/u) and project directory (/p, /s) filesystems are backed up using a ZFS snapshot each night. These snapshots are retained for one month.
