About Me

I am an engaging, adaptable, and enthusiastic teacher who cares deeply about improving the quality of an inclusive culture in higher learning. In August 2018, I joined the Computer Science Department at the Univeristy of Virginia as an Assistant Professor, Academic General Faculty. Before that, I've taught computer science courses at UNC Charlotte over 4 years to a total of 1,458 students.

My research interests include biomedical image analysis, machine learning, and computer science education. As my accomplishments demonstrate, one of my greatest strengths lies in my ability to connect and inspire students, which has contributed to a vibrant CS student community. Last year, I wrote a grant to launch a teacher-empowered program to make a state-wide impact on integrating computational thinking into high school curriculum which resulted in a digital dissemination of CodeNC.org.
